Both phones are extremely new, capable and stunning. The Lumia benefits from the amazing UI of Windows Phone 8, great design, amazing screen and great camera. The iPhone 5 benefits from a simple UI, great range of apps available on the App store and the amazing battery life, not to mention being the fastest smartphone out.

If you want a phone that is simple to use, and has heaps of apps availalable to download, then get the iPhone 5. If you want a phone that has a great screen, design and extremely elegant and simple UI, then get the Lumia 920

The Nokia Lumia 920 of course

This is the future of all phones. The iOS is outdated and W8 is new.

Its more about you... and what you use

Maps- well nokia of course ( even if apples worked well)

you download all of AU and it works everywhere. ( and its free)

Camera - nokias is considered the best

APPS : there are 100,000 on the store that run on wp8 2,000 new ones for wp8

if you live work play rurally : nokia 920 (iphones are not bluetick - the 4S was a strong arm tactic by apple so its a lie, very worst bluetick phone)

But if none of that is important/relevant to you pick what you like

Hands down, the Lumia 920!

Windows 8 It is smooth, easy to navigate, straight forward and simple. Please read peoples reviews on it. Many people that try a Windows Phone coming from Android and IOS (IPhone) are impressed and do not look back.

The hardware is as followed:

First it's Nokia. Nokia is known to make very durable cell phones.

The optical lens on the phone is the best on the market to this day. There are a few video out that compare the video and camera, whether it is low light picture taking or the shakiness of the video camera while filming and the Lumia 920 comes out on time.

The display is the best on any cell phone that is out. Ultra sensitive to where you could use gloves to navigate the touch screen. The other phones cannot do this.

Option for Wireless charging is available.

Nokia maps is highly reputable for GPS

Both are supposedly good phones, it's more a matter of preference. The Nokia Lumia 920 isn't out yet, so no reviews have been made so far.

The Lumia will run on Windows Phone 8, while the iPhone 5 runs on iOS. As WP8 hasn't properly been released yet, information about the system is scarce. However, the operating system on the iPhone seems to be outdated now, but if you've have prior editions of the iPhone and have been satisfied, go for it.

Pros for the Lumia: NFC, wireless charging, has a better camera, larger screen, and you can use the screen with gloves, possibly great new operating system (?). However, it is heavier than most of its competitors, and there aren't that many apps available to Windows compared to iOS or Android.

Pros for the iPhone: iOS with its abundance of apps, feels like quality, fast, lightweight.

To the commenter who claimed a friend had the Lumia 920 "and it sucked", you must be mistaken as it isn't available for sale just yet.

I would personally go for the iPhone 5 because of all the features like Siri, iCloud, the App Store that has an insane amount of apps and games, the big Retina Display, It's super fast. I could go on all day but those are the main reasons.

I'm just gonna address and/or correct some answers.

"My friend had that same Nokia." - Lumia 920 isn't out yet, so this is a blatant lie.

"Facebook and Twitter" - Both social networks are available on both phones. On Lumia 920 they can be integrated on the front screen to show live information.

"Siri" - Lumia 920 has TellMe.

"iCloud" - Lumia 920 has Microsoft's Skydrive. Same kind of service, except Microsoft offers 7 GB against Apple's 5GB.

"Speed" - They are both amazingly fast. In terms of refresh rate, Lumia 920 is 50% faster.

"Display" - Lumia 920 outperforms iPhone 5 in every single aspect: PPI, size, resolution, sensitivity, refresh rate, brightness, reflection, outdoor legibility.

"SD Card" - Neither phone has it. If it matters, get an Android phone.

"NFC" - Lumia 920 has it, iPhone 5 doesn't.

"Apps" - Apple Store offers more programs, but the Windows store offers better apps in terms of integration.

"Camera" - Nokia has been the undisputed king of mobile photography for half a decade. Lumia 920 is the newest marvel in terms of mobile photography and iPhone 5, with its purple haze, hardly compares.

"Browser" - Nokia 920 features Internet Explorer 10 which beats iPhone 5's Safari in terms of compatible websites.

"GPS" - Nokia Maps are far better than Apple's excuse of a Map app. Apple even apologized for the poor quality of Apple Maps.

"Wireless charging" - Yes, the Lumia 920 has it. iPhone 5, not so much.

"Customization" - Lumia 920 offers live tiles, iPhone 5 offers nothing.

Unraised points.

"4G" - Lumia 920 has better LTE support.

"Wifi" - Lumia 920 features DNLA.

"Eco system" - Both phones integrate better with their respective eco system.

"Connectivity" - Lumia 920 works with any normal micro USB cable while iPhone 5 only works with their own proprietary cable.

"Colors" - iPhone 5 features black and white while Lumia features black, white, yellow, grey, cyan, red and likely more.

"Standby time" - iPhone 5, 225 hours and Lumia 920, 400 hours.

"Talk time" - iPhone 5, 8 hours and Lumia 920, 10 hours.

"Productivity" - Lumia 920 features Microsoft Office, iPhone 5 features nothing(?).

I'd suggest lumia 920 if you are not bothered about weight and thickness of the phone. Reasons are obvious, better camera (iphone 5 users already complaining @ purple haze) with OIS and amazing low light photography capabilities, Better display in terms of both sensitivity and pixel density also it's a brighter display as per specs, apps like Nokia Drive and Nokia Maps which are way better than apple's current Maps, Windows 8, which in its second incarnation has got many things right which apple iOS even in its 6th incarnation stills lacks, such as icon customization, SD card support, NFC support(Lumia 920 doesn't support though), you'll get a better browser IE 10 when it comes to compatibility(no website developer would design website that's not fully compatible with IE but reverse is not true i.e. there are some websites which may not be fully compatible with Safari) so you'll not miss your desktop or laptop even while browsing on phone.
