Question:
Do tempered glass screen protectors prevent screen cracks?

I will be getting a new phone tomorrow. I have had bad luck with phones in the past - they crack more often than not. Aaaaanyway. I would like to avoid that.
So, I have been looking into Spigen cases and screen protectors like the Glas.Tr couple with one of their cases. So if I
were to drop it, would it be possible that both the protector and actual screen would break?
Or would the tempered glass absorb the shock and leave the real screen intact?
Let me know.
Thanks!

a tempered glass screen protector can still break, they add a little more impact protection.

if you dropped it onto an uneven surface it could easily crack the protector and the screen if the surface it fell on was hard enough.

tempered glass screen protectors are more for preventing the screen being scratched when it's in your pocket and something like your keys are pressed up against the screen.

if your always dropping or cracking the screen, get a better case like an otterbox, which will offer more protection if it's dropped and lands screen first, because the case will hit the ground and not the screen.

NO, screen protectors ONLY prevent scratches on screens. If the screen gets hit hard enough, both the protector and the screen under it are getting broken. They can take glancing blows, but a direct hit with a hard surface or say face down on a rock and you are going to lose both.

Also tempered glass is weak to side hits, drops and jolts, flexing and pointed stress, this is why those car windshield and window emergency breakers have a pointed edge, press and poof, the tempered glass breaks and a windshield is a LOT thicker than a screen protector. Ask anyone that has had a tempered glass coffee table or dining room table top break, and most will tell you it was a small object that hit the corner of the table and the entire thing crumbled into a million pieces.

You might get away with a drop here and there, but the corner, back or side drops are what is going to take the screen out.

First of all, Samsung phones seem to break a lot less than I-phones. The Edge may be an exception. I have a Samsung 5 with a thick glass protector. I just yesterday noticed that the screen underneath seems to have gotten cracked, probably when I dropped it several weeks ago. The crack is one line across the screen, and you CAN NOT see the crack when the phone is on, only when it is off and held at a certain angle in strong light. I don't even see any need to get it repaired and will buy another glass protector when I upgrade.
