There have been rumors floating around the web of Verizon releasing their own Visual Voicemail. In the articles, they mention that one of the handsets that will have the capabilities it the Voyager Refresh. What exactly is it? Will it be a firmware update on the LG Voyager or will it be a completely new handset? I am hoping for an update seeing as I have the LG Voyager and have been waiting for an update for quite sometime.

It seems that Verizon staff like to give incomplete answers... if you don't know then don't say. I don't know YOUR position at Verizon, but others have given the feedback that V09 of the Voyager software is supposed to be available by August

AND that the Voyager Refresh which is mentioned in a press release included here:

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/06/17/verizon-rolling-out-visual-voicemail-in-coming-months

which is an update for the Voyager that may or may not be available over-the-air.

As far as I know, the visual voicemail is going to be offered on the Voyager, and will include a charge of $1.99/month regardless of what handset uses it. Now, there have been people who claim that Verizon told them the newest update (V.09) will be out late June or early July... which is right around the time visual voicemail is suppose to be released. It would only make sense that Verizon, if releasing a new voicemail system AND a new update for the Voyager, would include visual voicemail capabilities in the update... along with some other much-desired upgrades.

Nick: you are a moron! You are completely and ONLY trying to steer us away from the original question giving only information which is already noted in the article. Judging from your insanely incorrect firmware version, your credibility is completely shot (especially being a so-called Verizon employee)

To ALL Others: Let's look at the big picture! The voyager name didn't change for firmware v03-v05 or v05-v07 so let’s all assume the Voyager Refresh will be a completely new handsets. keep in mind this article also mentions additional unreleased handset. It kind of seems odd that 2 major firmware upgrades are released back to back then stalls on v09

I could be wrong folks but we all know LG has recently released a ton of new models for all carriers! It really wouldn't surprise me if they came out with a Voyager Refresh pre-ordered till Christmas 08.

If there was a new version of Voyager 1, we would already know on Howard Forums. It seems to be a refresh or a new UI that the Voyager will get. That should hold us til Christmas when Voyager 2 is released.

Cooper, you say "but others have given the feedback that V09 of the Voyager software is supposed to be available by August." According to http://gizmodo.com/tag/voyager-refresh/ , late July/ early August is when Visual Voicemail is expected to come out. Let's put two and two together: Visual Voicemail debuts in August. The Voyager's latest update comes out in August. Do I smell a correlation?

I work for Verizon and will be glad to assist you. I myself have not heard of it (for the voyager)...and several of my coworkers don't either. I read a few articles about the visual voicemail. We will begin to offer visual voice mail on the following devices: The LG Dare (not yet released), LG Chocolate 3 (not yet released), Samsung Gleam, and the LG Decoy (brand new). It will charge 1.99 per month. This seems odd since all the other carriers don't charge for it. It isn't that odd, since Verizon Wireless will offer visual voice mail even in extended network, roaming, or over sea areas! It will also have a wonderful layout.

I am unaware if it will be on the Voyager.
