Those kids are just following the crowd, as are so many adults without doing any research. Androids already won the Smartphone war. By the end of 2010 Android OS surpassed iPhone OS in popularity and as of a week ago it also beat Nokia's Symbian which was #1. We now have, in order: Android, Nokia's Symbian, Apple iOS, Blackberry, Microsoft

When the iPhone 4 came out on AT&T, with much hype, there was already a superior Android phone on the market, the HTC Evo 4G on Sprint, which can do anything the iPhone 4 can, do more, and do it better. For instance, it’s a 4G phone which the iPhone is not. It can video-chat over 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi, the iPhone needs Wi-Fi. It can do Flash 10.1, the iPhone can’t because Apple doesn’t like Flash. The Evo has a better camera, an HDMI output, non-proprietary cables, replaceable battery and MicroSD card. It has all the Google services and goodies, like the free Google Navigation and Voice Actions for Android:

Many other Androids have come out which are better than the iPhone 4. For example, the Samsung Epic 4G, HTC Thunderbolt, Motorola Droid Bionic, Motorola Atrix.
Android is also about to bust the iOS app dominance. iOS has about 300,000 apps but the Android Market already hit the 250,000 mark and will surpass iOS in the next couple of months.

That's not counting the fact that Android phones can SIDELOAD apps that are not in the market. This can most easily be done using Android's Barcode Scanner to scan a QR code on the app's website:

So go get yourself an HTC Evo or a Thunderbolt, fully customize the SEVEN home screens with beautiful active widgets, put up a LIVE wallpaper, then put some movies in it just by dragging them into the SD card (NO iTunes hassle), pull out the kickstand and watch your movies on the beautiful 4.3” screen and see if you don’t think it’s a far better experience than the iPhone 4. Now and then, make a call or text your friends without typing anything, just by using Voice Actions, and see if you don’t impress more than a few iPhone-toting friends…
