Question:
Why do people hate apple products so much?

I don't get it. I have an iphone and I bought a 7th generation ipod nano yesterday. I am perfectly happy with the ipod and the iphone is great. The new iOS is very nice. I realize that there are people who prefer other products, samsung for example. I like samsung too, my father is more of a samsung fan and I know their products are great because I have used them too. I prefer apple but that doesn't mean that I hate everything else.

Why do people mock apple fans so much? What's wrong with liking my iphone? Some people are being totally mean to those who own iphones and apple products in general. Half of my classmates today said that the new ipod is great and the others were like "why did you spend money on that?"

A guy said "even though I am a samsung fan, the sound quality is great" WTF? Seriously, will this apple VS samsung ever stop? It's getting really annoying, I prefer apple but samsung is awesome too, especially the latest samsung galaxy. If you want to buy an iphone or an ipad, get ready for lots of negative comments.

That's totally ridiculous, is it too difficult to understand that not all of us have the same taste? Some prefer samsung as some prefer apple, that's all. I don't get why some people laugh at you for preferring apple.

I apologize for my crappy english.

I think that some of them might be jealous, I agree that they are really expensive products, but I love my ipod touch and would rather use my brothers mac book than my dell or gateway laptop any day. It's all preference and there will always be haters and rude people. Ignore them :)

Edit: I'm hoping that I get an iphone today and I'm so excited! I don't care what people are going to say, they can say what they want. I'm going to enjoy my new phone :)

What a silly question. Just as many people hate Microsoft products... and I'm one of them. We all have different reasons for liking or disliking things.. we wouldn't all have the same reasons. Somone else's reason for hating Microsoft could be totally different from mine I've used MS products my whole working career (except when doing freelance design), and have always had Macs at home, and have had a Mac pretty much since we had computers at home. So I've certainly used both enough to fairly state my own preference.

I've hear Mac haters who hate Macs because they weren't good for gaming.

Another complained about them being too user friendly (not challenging enough?)

I have found some MS products work better on a Mac than on a PC.

Another thing I've experienced is that it seems MS releases products way too soon, leaving it up to the consumer to experience and report way too many bugs.

Bottom line.. we have choices. Everyone likes what they like. I respect whatever choices others make, and wouldn't criticize those choices.

I absolutely share your frustration! I wondered the same thing which was how I came across your question. About 5 years ago, I was getting frustrated with my Windows machines. It seemed that they constantly needed re-formatting, re-installing, re-configuring, etc. By "constantly" I mean at least 2-3 times a year. I have been using MS os since MS-DOS and have always had some sort of frustration either with stability, driver support, viruses, etc. So I decided to give Apple computers a try since, at that time, I had an original iPhone and had enjoyed it. I bought a MacMini and plugged it into my existing monitor and absolutely fell in love! Since there was a requirement for me to use Windows occasionally, I installed Windows Vista through boot camp. Not only was Windows more stable on the MacMini, but I have never had, in the last 5 years had the blue screen of death occur (and yes, Vista is still installed on that machine). On my other machines the BSOD occurred on average four out of ten times. So now, I own an iMac, MacBook Pro, as well as the MacMini. As someone who uses both platforms on a regular basis, I can tell you that Apple's products may be more expensive, but the shelf life of their products far outlast any Windows products I have owned in the past. The MacMini I spoke of is still going strong even though it's five years old; my iMac is four years old and is going strong. Both run the latest version of OSX as well as Windows 8. Neither showing any signs of slowing down. In the past 20 years, I have had to upgrade my Windows machines on average ever 2-3 years, and usually when I do upgrade, it's because the machine is so slow that it adversely affects it's use.

I am constantly being attacked for "buying over-priced" computers and that Apple products suck. But when ever I ask if these critics ever owned and used an Apple product, they either say "No" or say that they have tried it at someone else's house, or that they ran OSX on a virtual machine on their Windows machines. There is a deep hatred that people have with Apple and there is nothing anyone can say that will change their minds.

I say, let them attack us, and let's continue to enjoy our products. I really don't see how our use of Apple affects their lives, but some people just want to hate...

I am not allowed full control over my own products with Apple - it's a walled garden

I am not hamstrung to iTunes (and in turn Quicktime) for updating said devices

They were last to remove DRM from their store

Their products are underpowered and overpriced

Routine Maintenance is all but impossible.

Apple software is not FLOSS

Apple are patent trolls, trying to patent rounded corners is a farce

I'm not sure. I personally love apple. Maybe the people just really love the other products (Samsung, etc.)

Everyone on messageboards likes to be chronic complainers. Just like those that complain about Facebook, they probably dont even know nothing about it.
