Can anyone help me with an instant messaging problem for a Nokia 5310 cell phone?

I have a Nokia 5310. I clicked the 'IM and Email' and then clicked the 'Instant Messaging' and then signed in Yahoo IM application and exited out of the instant messaging, but the yahoo im icon was visible so it would appear that as if i am online. And then I accessed the 'Instant Messaging' again so i can sign myself out but when i clicked 'Instant Messaging' a message came up, which i should have wrote down but i think it had the word java script in the message. And then i tried to access 'Instant Messaging' again but it said something along the lines of 'Instant Messenger is running. Nothing to display.' And so I turned off my phone and then turned it back on to access the Instant Messaging except this time nothing appeared other than the words 'Instant Messaging' at the top below the time, cell bars, battery bar, etc.
So now, every time i click 'Instant Messaging' the IM applications doesn't pop and there is actually nothing displaying and the i still have the yahoo icon on my phone.
I also tried to 'restore settings only' but of course that didn't change anything regarding the im problem.

Anyways I would really appreciate any help on how to get the Instant Messenger services to appear again and possibly help get rid of the yahoo im icon as well.
