I have an answer for you, but it's very long-winded, so bear with me while I take you through it step by step. First of all there are 3 things that are a must before you start.
1. Ensure you have your phone fully charged before you begin.
2. Ensure you have a micro SD memory card, any size up to a maximum of 2 gb.
3. Ensure you have a flash drive, to hold your music in external storage, while you move it around.
Now to begin the process itself. Depending on where you got your music from, CD's, P2P sites, such as Limewire, etc, ensure it all goes into Windows Media Player (WMP). Once it's in WMP, make sure that every track is listed accurately, such as artist, album, title, etc. This includes things such as using "and" or "&" consistently. For example, "Adam And The Ants" will read differently to "Adam & The Ants" and will have them listed separately in your artist listing. Similarly =, be aware of bands whose name begins with "The". For example, "The Beatles" will be read as a different group to "Beatles". Pick one method and stick to it consistently. Make sure that every apostrophe, etc is correct, for the same reason.
Next to add album art, if you wish to, or you can skip this step if you don't want to add it in there. Do not use WMP to find and update album art as this will not work on the Viewty. Use the following method instead. Go to an external website, such as Amazon, Yahoo images, Google images, CCovers, etc. You can also get the images from the artist's website, in some cases. Create a folder for this album art. I suggest calling it "Album Art" and putting it on the desktop, or in "my documents", "my images" on the computer for easy access. Copy and paste the album art into the "Album Art" folder you have created. Go to the album on WMP and right click the 1st track of the album. Go to "Advanced Tag Editor" and click on the "Pictures" tab. From there, click "Add" and find your album art folder in the drop-down box that appears. Open the album art folder and find the album cover, which you've hopefully named correctly and copy that cover into the space. Sometimes you have to repeat this step a number of times, as the art doesn't always drop in. Other times it may not drop in, then suddenly drop loads of times, in which case you delete all but one copy of it. Repeat the process for each track, one at a time, and again for each album, making sure you associate the correct art with the correct album, of course. That completes all the groundwork and you're then ready to move on to the next stage.
Once you've prepared your music as above, this is when the flash drive comes into play. Put it into your computer's USB port, making sure it's on manual sync, not auto-sync, which you can check on the sync tab of WMP. Name your flash drive with a name of your choice. Go to "sync" and add your music to the sync list, album by album. Once you've got all your music on the sync list, press "start sync". Allow the music to sync to the flash drive; this may take time, depending how much music you are putting on.
Once the sync is complete, you then need to copy the music back to the computer, which I suggest you put either on the desktop or "my documents", "my music".
Check your Viewty's settings are on Data Settings, which you can do by pressing the 4 dots on the bottom left of the screen, followed by "settings " (the cogwheel), "phone settings", "connectivity" "USB conection mode", "data service". Some Viewty's will not transfer in "Mass Storage" mode. Now connect your Viewty via the USB or a Bluetooth dongle, depending on your preferred method. Allow the phone to run its setup and connect to the internet and the LG PC Suite Program to run its course for connection. Go to PC Suite and click on the headphone icon to allow the music settings to connect up. Make sure that the transfer mode is set to external, at the top of the screen, as the music will only transfer to the memory card, not to the handset itself.
Get the PC Suite to search for the music on the memory card, which is usually "Drive E". The music will drop into the list. From there you click on the songs, I would suggest groups of 10 songs at a time, or perhaps a full album, so you can keep track of what you've done and where you are up to. This is because the PC Suite software is unpredictable and sometimes closes for no obvious reason. When you have selected your first set of songs, using the control key to move down and capture the tracks, press on "send all to phone" at the bottom right of the screen. Then allow them to transfer to the phone, keeping a close eye on the software in case it crashes.
Continue this process until all your music is transferred, then everything should be complete. If the software should close, then continue where it left off. If you're not sure where it crashed, the phone lists all the newly transferred songs in its library, with the most recent track at the top. Make sure your track names aren't too long, as the phone won't copy the tracks with long filenames.
I hope this helps, but please feel free to ask me for any further help and I'll do my best to sort out your problem.
