And when I say block, I mean calls and texts.
I have an ex who won't leave me alone, so I need to block him.
I'd rather not take legal action.

Check with your cell phone service provider. I am sure they have blocking options. I have a very heavy duty blockage on my landline. I have blocked up my phone so much that I can't call from my office to my home without using a code to unblock my office phone. So nobody gets in. I have a block on my phone, anonymous call rejection. Callers must unblock their caller id block to call me. Some prank callers that had been harassing me took the bait and unblocked their line to call me. I read it back to them on the phone and I could tell they were scared. The conversation went from drunken swearing to some very sober apologies. Funny thing about those guys is that when you threaten them, they act like the victim, as if calling someone at 2am is no big deal and swearing at them and sexual comments to my girlfriend. Enough is enough. I got the anon block and the only way they can get thru is with a caller ID on their phone and they are not about to prank call me with that on.

Yeah, VZ Wireless should be able to offer you a block that will suit your needs. Check on fees though.

Well, I called Verizon and asked them this very question and they said it has to be a documented case of harassment for them to block a number. But you never know with them, they tell one customer one thing and another could get a different answer. I'd do what another poster said and go to the Verizon store and see if they could help.

I was able to get on my Sprint page and type in the actual number I wanted blocked. This worked with texts, and I never tried actual numbers. I know I have had phones that allow me to block anyone's number that wasn't programmed in. And it would stop the person from calling but wouldn't allow the phone to ring unless I had programmed the number into my phone book. Just get on the Verizon website and see what you can do. And please get a restraining order just for your own protection. I would hate to think that this idiot would escalate in his behavior but you never know and it's rather safe than sorry.

First you should find out if it's even possible. There are some phones and phone service providers that aren't even able to block numbers. But usually if it's possible you have to call the service provider and have them do it. It could just be that his phone is dead, poor service connection, service provider problems, etc.

when i tried to block a number for the same reason i was told the only way to block the number was to block all unknown phone calls (means u have to take the number out of ur contacts list) otherwise the only thing you can do is change your number...i reported him to the police for harassment and they wrote a report (did no actual legal action) and when I told him I had made a report with the police he stopped bothering me

find some call divert or message filter feature in your phone

i'm sure you'll find something there

just explore your phone down to all it's features and the gory details

Yeah you can.

Just go into your provider (eg. Telecom, Vodafone) and they'll do it for you and it's free :D

Hope this helped
