What's it about Windows Mobiles and Windows Phones?

Question

I have my father's old HTC Touch Pro 2 and so am I right it's a Windows Mobile and not a Windows Phone? And when I search from the web for Windows Mobile apps and games all I can get is Windows Phone stuff. But I can't use it, right? So... I've heard they made a change and so but I can't find any apps so what to do? Should I just throw it away, like is it off the market etc? Or are there still some good places where I could download apps and stuff? If there are could someone suggest me some? Or is it some thing with updates and I have to update something? Sorry, so many weird questions but I really like this phone and want it to work nicely with apps and so, so could somebody just clear this stuff a little for me? All answers are welcome! :)

Windows Mobile was the name Microsoft used from 1.0 to 6.5. They overhauled the system & thus changed the name to Windows Phone starting with version 7.



Previous Windows Mobile phones can not update to Windows Phone 7. Unfortunately for Windows Phone 7 owners, Microsoft again overhauled the system in the change over to Windows Phone 8 & now they too can't update their phones, & would have to get a new Windows Phone 8 running phone in order to get it.



You are better of trying to get a more modern Windows Phone 8 phone if you want to stick with Windows or better yet an iPhone.

HTC Pro Touch 2 is a Windows Mobile device - distinct from Windows Phone. You cannot upgrade a Windows Mobile device to Windows Phone.



The Windows Mobile Marketplace for applications (amongst others) is closed - so you cannot download new apps or app updates.

Nokia Lumias are windows phones and Htc 8 x and Htc 8 s and windows phones .

right here you bypass: you like 3G, 5+ battery existence, qwerty keyboard. nicely....your not likely to discover that on the iPhone. attempt the Lg Voyager sort Verizon instant. it is not domicile windows cellular even however this is a stable telephone. It has Navigator, television, cyber web, track, video clips, 2MP digital camera, MMS, video recorder and incredible battery existence. i'm getting approximately 2 days worth while in comparison with the iPhones 4- hours.
