Does TracFone allow texting to short codes (such as for Twitter, Facebook, etc.)?

I have heard that this will work as long as their isn't a charge for the service.

I have read the TracFone document "Terms and Conditions of service" , this is what I found in that document. 1. Texts to short codes are called a "Premium SMS" service. (Why and what else is considered to be Premium SMS Services is not addressed or mentioned.)

2. Short codes are those used to participate in things like voting for certain advertised events such as "The Voice" and other tv programs or to access other services and promotions offered by companies or organizations other than TracFone. 3. TracFone normally DOESN'T SUPPORT Short codes. 4.Texts sent to shortcodes (other than those that TracFone may choose to offer or Use from time to time), will not go through but any charges will not be refunded.

So the short answer is NO SHORT CODES will not work with TracFone Wireless.

MAYBE. Worked for years when my phone was on ATT. {01Jun15} Changed phone, kept # but was changed to T-Mobile. New email && lost Short Codes. Contacted Tracfoneforum, was told "Short Code MAY NOT work on discount service providers". Short Codes started working 3 days later, worked for 5 days, then stopped again. Now Tracfone claims Short Code SMS was never provided.
