After syncing my iPhone recently I noticed that a lot of my contacts are duplicates, and some contacts were created that I don't even have contact info for (Facebook friends whose emails and phone numbers I don't have). Is there somewhere in the settings that I can go and fix this? Not sure if it's an iPhone issue or a Facebook one so I'm lost as to where to start and I'm trying to avoid having to sit and manually go through deleting the ones that shouldn't be there.

Well. you can show the contacts on computer with the special software iPhone contacts manage tool. 4meida iPhone contacts transfer. http://www.iphonecontactsbackup.com/iphone-contacts-transfer.html

You can delete contacts directly from computer for your iPhone. or add new contacts to iPhone or export to computer for a backup. good luck.

Not sure how many contacts you have but you can give www.scrubly.com a try. Their service removes duplicates and merges entries so you only have a single entry with all of the different ways to reach them.

It has been a pretty useful service for me, I'm sitting on around 2k contacts and that is after a merge and cleanse!

When you open the contacts list, click on the name, on the top right side, hit edit, then scroll all the way to the bottom an hit delete contact! I hope this helped.

yeah iOS is annoying. To delete contacts OR events, you have to connect your phone to iTunes and do all these weird steps. Google the steps I can't remember.
