I set my new phone so that the button on the left side of the phone would lock the keypad. It says on the phone to unlock the keypad, to press the lock button. I assume that means to press the button I have set to lock it (the button on the side). When I press it, it doesn't unlock it. I've tried holding it down, and just clicking it once. I don't have a clue what to do now.

This one is actually very easy. Look at the top of the phone. It doesn't look like there are any buttons there but there are. On the left side, you'll see a light grey lock. All you have to do is press it lightly and you will feel it move. That's all you have to do to lock and unlock the keypad. On the right side, you'll see a speaker with a line through it. During a call you can press it to mute and unmute the phone. While not on a call, you can press and hold it for a second and it will enter Standby Mode. To get out of Standby Mode, just press the same button.

The 8900 already has a "Lock" key on the top left side. That is what you need to press to unlock a locked keyboard. No need to program a convenience key!

From User Guide:

Turn on standby mode

If you are not on a call, you can turn on standby mode to avoid pressing keys accidentally when you are not using your BlackBerry® device.

Press the Lock key on the top of your device.

To turn off standby mode, press the Lock key again.
