If I set up my iPhone as a new device will it completely restore my iPhone?

My computer is not recognizing my iPhone.
It keeps telling me it wants to set it up as a new device.
Can someone help, please?

You should try and open itunes and then plug it in. Maybe that will help.

Since the iphone backs up the phone everytime you sync it. Its ok to setup the phone as a new phone on the computer. The only thinig that will happen is that the phone will get backed up on the computer and then it will ask you what you want to sync. Im assuming that you will want to sync the same thing that you have synced before so you will just have to sit there for a few mins and wait for it to sync the same info that you have on phone currently. Make user that you dont select any options on the info tab that say "replace info on phone". Other than that you will be ok...

Well yea. New device as it came out the box had no data on it.
