I use a pay as you go phone.
Presently calls are done through O2 but I would like to switch
to Tesco.
Do I need to terminate with O2, and how do I sign up to Tesco.
The phone is mine, and I have been with O2 for about 8 years.
Also, will I be able to keep my number?

There is no real need to inform O2 if you are pay as you go. Unless you have the desire to keep your current mobile phone. If you do, then you will need to ask O2 for Port Authority Code (PAC) Number.

Now, Tesco run on the same mobile phone network as O2, so there is a chance that your current O2 phone will accept your Tesco prepay SIM Card.

If this doesn't work, then you will need to unlock the mobile phone from o2 for your Tesco SIM - you can do this online (try searching for the unlock code) or most smaller mobile phone stores i.e. not phones 4u or Carphone will unlock a phone for around £5.

You can pick up a Free Pay as you go SIM Card from this site

Hope this helps

you will get a sim basically settlement, so that's well worth checking those out. each and all the networks try this, O2 has one too. those are month to month rolling contracts, so no tying your self up for twenty-four months! and that they are oftentimes extra low-value, too, given which you at the instant are not paying for a telephone on best of the tariff. the only element to video exhibit is your cutting-edge telephone could be locked to the Tesco community. whether that's, then you might want to get it unlocked, yet this could be high quality as you will get this performed for a useful cost at many shops on the city. (whether that's locked, it would basically settle for sim enjoying cards from Tesco, no different community. you may put in a friends's sim in the event that they're on yet another community and notice if it works - if it does, that's unlocked. If it says no sim, that's locked).

Good Afternoon emeraldisle2222,

As has already been mentioned you would need to request your PAC code to keep your existing number.

As you are currently on PAYG you don't need to cancel any agreement, you just need to give your new provider the PAC code.

If you have any further questions, please let me know!
