I would steer you away from the iphones 4s because it has battery drainage problems:

Even Steve Wozniak, co-founder of apple says the same thing and that siri is glitchy:

And this is an Apple Legend saying this so you know it has to be bad.

Furthermore, with iphone you do not get Adobe Flash which is required to view videos on many websites, it is a huge complaint among iphone owners. Plus you cannot expand memory with iphone if you run out of space but with android you just add a card up to 32gb and you're good to go.

You get more free apps with android, for example angry birds is free with android whereas you have to buy it with apple, or use their "free" version which has a big ad blocking part of the screen getting in the way of gameplay.

Android phones are usually superior in technical specs, faster and more customizable. It is the better choice, that is why it leads the global market in smartphones today even with apple selling a lot of their iphones cheap or free.

And despite the Woz saying iphones are easier to use, ANYONE can use android, he had to say SOMETHING nice about apple lol.

Whether iOS is more stable than Android can be a debate. From what I've seen, iOS can just be as problematic as Android.

You think the battery is a lot better on iPhone? Nope, my friend's iPhone battery drains faster than my Samsung Galaxy S II believe it or not. And while some Android applications have issues, my friend told me that there were just as much issues on iOS apps with the difference being that Android displays a message while iOS doesn't when it crashes.

According to statistics recently posted over the net (via a survey), iOS is less stable than Android. So yeah, it's not that much better.

Also remember this. iOS 5 makes battery life even worse.

Android is a great platform, provided it is used with the right phone.

iOS on the other hand is tailored for iPhone and does the job really well.

Android will get you a lot of cutting edge technology which iOS will implement a year or two later but it's a really sweet experience to use it and it's really simple and you do what you want without any hassle.

iOS is a bit pain when it comes to multimedia transfer though but once it uploaded its worth the effort to see it on screen.

Plus Apple's App store is much matured than that of Google's Market.

iPhone's battery-life for sure is as good as any high end Android phone.

Camera is the best on a phone till Nokia releases it's 41MP Camera Phone but till then iPhone 4S wears the crown.

Phones really snappy when it comes to performance.

Verdict: Go for an iPhone.

Slow?

I'm on an LG optimus 2x with ginger bread and slow isn't in my vocabulary, perhaps its your phone rather than the OS.

Iphones have such shitty battery life, it's not even funny. They aren't really slow though, but hey my android isn't either!

IF you want fast, get a dual-core phone such as mine, or samsung galaxy s2. Or something.

android os is the best os available in the market right now.

Plus the latest android 4.0 is coming for all android devices soon.

iOS is good but not as good as android.

There might be some problem with your phone.

The battery life is short in both android as well as iphone 4s for heavy users like you and me.
