Probably not, unfortunately.. Call Verizon or go into a store- they can look up your number and see if it is eligible to transfer..

Most likely. You will always have to go to the new provider, in this case Verizon and tell them you want to port a number.

Porting from cellphone to cellphone takes a short time usually just a few hours and you have to keep your number active until the porting is completed. You will have to sign a LNP form (Local Number Portability) with all your information which has to exactly match with the information your current provider has on record.

They will also ask your account number and the account password that you now have for your Track account. (The password or PIN can be the last four of your SSN).

Most times the old provider cannot refuse to port your number away even if you owe them money but they maybe able to block it disconnecting your number for owing them. As soon as a number is disconnected it doesn't belong to you.

If you want to keep your number but they cannot port it there are services out there like http://parkmyphone.com who can help you port your number and either you can have a voicemail or forward your calls to another number starting at $5/Mo
