How much does it cost to add an extra line on a verizon account?

My son wants me to get him a phone. Would it be cheaper to add an extra account onto my verizon account? Can he get a free phone this way or will he have to pay for one? How much will it cost a month? Is there a better way to do this?

It depends what single plan you are on. If you are on a basic $39.99 450 plan, you would have to move into a 59.99 700 min family share plan. This covers his phone, plus yours.



Some phones are free! Sometimes stores make exceptions for new lines as well. your cost depends on the features that you add. (insurance, txt, ringbacktones, vcast, etc etc)

I just added my sister in law to our verizon wireless account. To add a line - it costs $9.99 per month. However, my sister in law (and I'm sure your son) probably wants text messaging. Text messaging adds anywhere from 10 to 20 dollars a month onto your cell phone bill. It is also important to make sure he doesn't go over on his minutes because that will raise your bill again. He can get a free, cheaper phone through ordering one online at verizonwireless.com . Roughly, for my sister in law to share our 1400 minute plan, have 1500 text messages/pic messages, and including tax/etc. it comes to: $30 dollars per month. Hope this helps!

hey... to add an extra line it costs $$9.99 a month per line..you can get specific phones for free if you add like a 2yr contract alone...but i think you can get free phones adding on...why dont u go look on the website though to make sure.. =] **hope this helps**

That is the best and cheapest way.

It's 9.99 a month, but more if you want texting.

They also have a cool feature where you can actually go online and find out where your kid is, you may want to look into that.
