I just turned 18 and I'm going to move out of my parents house. I'm going to have to pay for my own cell from now on. Since I have no credit score I cannot try to get a normal cell plan. That's why I started looking at prepaid phones and pay as you go plans. I looked into Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile but both services had poor reviews from users who said they have terrible reception and phones. Now I'm starting to look at AT&T and Verizons "go phones". All I really want for a cell is unlimited (or at least 1000) text and a few minutes here and there. I have no need for Internet, email, or apps. For that matter I don't even need a "smart phone", I just want a phone that has good voice/sound quality and maybe a keyboard for texting. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations that you'd like to share about these companies, plans, or phones? Oh and I'll be living in the Los Angeles (Torrance/Redondo Beach) area so i want a service that has good reception in that area. Thank you and I apologize for my complete ignorance in this subject

I checked your zipcode and you can get Straight Talk service... they have excellent coverage, check out the map. The plan is $45/month plus tax and gives you unlimited talk, text and web. You do have to buy the phone out right which does require about $80 or up depending on what phone you pick.

T-Mobile is a good one as well

500 minutes + unlimited text for $39.99 without a contract (meaning you must purchase the phone which will cost at least $100 or more.

or 500 minutes + unlimited text for $49.99 WITH a 2 year contract, meaning you get a free phone!! Both of those plans also come with unlimited Nights & Weekends and Mobile to Mobile

kajeet offers just what you're looking for!

It's a cell phone company that's marketed towards kids because they offer free parental controls. But I know plenty of adults going with them too because of the amazing prices. Just don't turn on any of the parental controls! (obviously)

Their $14.99 plan covers UNLIMITED TEXT and 60 talk minutes. There are no extra fees or taxes that add up like on other plans. It's just $14.99! Of course, they have other plans too but we use that one and it sounded like just what you're looking for.

They offer a huge selection of phones from $24 and up. Here's a coupon so you can get 15% off if you decide to go with them.

the superb pay as you circulate kind of factor is T-cellular. The telephones are airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust low-priced (as low as 15 dollars at Walmart) and the main inexpensive plan is 29.ninety 9 a month. you prefer to circulate with a plan because of the fact those different "low-priced" pay as you circulate decision like virgin, tracefone etc have connection costs etc. Your funds does not circulate very far. for 29.ninety 9 (the main inexpensive flex pay plan) you get 3 hundred minutes and countless night and weekends. they also have a literal pay-as-you-circulate kind of factor to boot yet i truthfully propose the flex pay plan.
