Hey everyone. I have a question to ask you. For those of you who are currently using go phones or was using it, do Go phones work pretty well? My boyfriend is thinking about getting me one. It's for emergency use only for me.

For emergency use only, yes I would recommend them. If you will be using it everyday it can get costly. When we had ours, we found that it would deduct $1.00 off our minutes everyday that we used it. While you can get free minutes for buying so many, it is frustrating. It costed just as much a contract with Verizon...sometimes much more. BUT it would be awesome if you just used it for emergency.

You're talking about the ATT Gophone - where there is no monthly fee.
if you buy a small amount of minutes, they expire in months.
If you buy $100 worth of minutes (I think that's the amount) they last a whole year.
I have an ATT go phone that I never use, just pay that once-a-year fee. Why? Because it's in a different area code, so I can list my business in that other area code, then have the calls forwarded to my regular #.
And, I can still use it in case of emergency - I charge it once a month.

I have a go phone. Just ask for net 10 it's great, it works really well and it doesn't deduct a dollar off everyday. It has roll over minutes and you get the first 2 months free. I really recommend net10.

I have had two go phones in the last year. They are good phones (i'm extremely hard on phones and my job has cost me those phones :-)). I would suggest getting one. I currently have one for emergency uses only such as what you are getting one for.

Go phones are okay. When I was in college I had a go phone that was a monthly bill, but no contract. I got 400 day time minutes and unlimited night time minutes, it ran me about 55-59 dollars.

I think Ricky Ramone said it best when he said:
Hey ho, let's go Hey ho, let's go
They're forming in a straight line They're going through a tight wind The kids are losing their minds The Blitzkrieg Bop
They're piling in the back seat They're generating steam heat Pulsating to the back beat The Blitzkrieg Bop.
Hey ho, let's go Shoot'em in the back now What they want, I don't know They're all reved up and ready to go

GoPhones (or pre-paid as they are known elsewhere) are good. You pay for what you use, or as is the case you pay for what you'd get to use.
