I'll give you an unbiased answer:

It's simple, if you're not into customizing and you're looking for the best user interface, then iPhone. Simple

If you are into customizing and you don't mind your phone being a bit laggy or screwing it up from time to time (meaning you'll either have to restore to factory settings or uninstall some stuff) then go with Android.

If you're into customizing and you're looking for the best interface/performance, then go with an iPhone and jailbreak it.

You should get a iphone 4. Iphone 4 has a better camera system with flash. Runs very smoothly and fast, and has such a vast majority of cases, apps, and more. Overall a iphone is a pocket of fun! Dont get me wrong androids are cool, but the iphone has so much work put into it.

Don't get iPhone or Android. Get a Windows Phone. It has a fluid and streamlined design. I am currently an iPhone 4 owner but I can't wait for my contract to expire and to get a Windows Phone 7. If your an XBOX Live gamer you can earn gamerpoints, view and edit your avatar etc. If you use Microsoft Word, Excel or Powerpoint for work or personal use go with Windows Phone 7 it has Office Mobile. Even though it is an relatively new mobile platform it has many of the major apps such as Netflix, Last.fm, Runkeeper, Angry Birds, Doodle Jump, Plants Vs. Zombies etc. It also has a great music player experience and a great syncing experience (especially on a Windows PC). There design philosophy revolves around typography and is very flat which very different from the competition which is why I like it. And the use of the Live Tiles on start screen makes it very easy to find the information you need and quick. For example you can pin a contact on the start screen and it will update when that person updates his or her status on Facebook ro Windows Live. There is also many other number of things that update live. And you can pin almost anything to the start screen: Contacts, Maps, Songs, Albums, Music Artists, Word/Excel/Powerpoint Documents, Apps, and Webpages. Overall the platform is very dynamic and works well with other Microsoft products and with a the Mango update coming to the Windows Phone in the fall will bring over 500 new features.

1. iPhone screen is Retina Display. the most PIXELS IN A PHONE EVER. the best screen EVER.

2. Best rated tech support, Google's Android has NO phone lines to even call

3. iPhone is HARD to scratch. We tested the back of it by rubbing it HARD against the a metal, a wooden, and a brick surface, not even ONE scratch. If you did that to an android phone the cheap peice of plastic would have been done with

4. Bettter battery, wayyy better battery

5. The touch screen on the iPhone is more responsive and accurate, and it only detects human skin, pretty neat.

6. The iPhone has the MOST APPS EVER.

7. All the other Android phones copy the iPhone. COPY COPY COPY -__-

8. iPhone is simple to update, if the iphone is into date and meets the requirement, you update it, right? Well with android, only certain phones get the updates, GAY.

9. Android phones are REALLY confusing, and some apps you have to go to third party websites to update and get plug ins, WACK.

10. ITS CHEAP. (Android phones)

11. iPhone comes with iCloud, which means all apps and music are saved to the cloud, and are automatiically put on the cloud, you don't even have to upload anything. So if you ever lose your iPhone, or delet an app or song by accident, it will always be there...Just go to App Store and iTunes Store

12. The iPhone actually has built in memory. Android phones have to use cheap Micro SIMS...so the phone ahs no real memory...Well what happens wif the SD card breaks or you lose it, your screwed.

13. With iPhone, you can make powerpoints, spread sheets, and everything, you can also print, play music wirelessly to speakers or TV thru Apple TV, and even play video over the Air to the TV.

^^ very biased answer, ive never had to restore my android as many times as my iphone.

any top android phone,

http://www.androidcentral.com/best-android-phones-june-2011

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps. And do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone

the android market already has 250000 apps- closing in on apple 500000, some say it will surpass it before the year is over. Also any popular iphone game or game adaptation can be found in the android market for free.

Security

both Iphone and android offer equal security, though they have different means of doing it.

iphone, verifies all the apps so you can’t get a virus through an app, but the rest of the phone is semi-vulnerable.

Android does not check the apps, but the apps are run in a isolated way, as to not affect the system in event of a virus.

so both phones are equally prone to viruses (and if this a big deal for you, android has a antivirus app, which iphone does not)

other features only on android

turn-by-turn GPS

better and larger screen

no need to connect to computer to sync

heres a big one, add a sd card

better calls

more customizable

more powerful hardware

flash support, watch ALL the online videos

apple lovers that say that the iphone is made of better quality material? They don’t realize that Samsung, an android phone maker supply’s the screen, processor and memory for apple devices, so android has the advantage here.

The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.

Also apple never invents anything, all they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as “magical” and “innovating”, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.

Also if you’ve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android

1. Notification bar

2. Twitter integration

3. No need to connect to PC to sync

4. Launch apps from lock screen

5. Tabbed browsing

according to Steve jobs, these "revolutionary" new technologies that android users had since 2007 will be available on IOS5. It would not surprise me to see some more android features from 2008 on IOS6, and the sad part is that apple lovers will really think that apple invented those features and call android the copycat…
