I don't want any random person to be able to read text messages off my iPhone screen. It displays the latest message I recieved as soon as you press the on button, even before unlocking it with my pin code. There must be a way to switch this feature off but I can't find it in any of my phone settings.

Thanks for your help!

There are two ways to do this, depending on what firmware you're running, and both are very simple.

If you've updated to the new 3.0:

Tap on your "Settings" icon.

Scroll down to "Messages" and tap it.

The first option you will see is "Show Preview"

Slide to the "Off" position

That's it!

If you're running 2.2.1 or below:

Tap on your "Settings" icon.

Tap on "General"

Tap on "Passcode Lock"

Enter your Passcode, if you have one set, and you should!

You'll see an option that says "Show SMS Preview"

Slide it to the "Off" position.

if I use my iPhone 90 degrees (for a stay in line with my head orientation), the image rotates automatically and leave me out of sync with my iPhone displays. The text become small and difficult to read The slick auto-rotate feature that I love so much during the day is the bane of my nighttime reading. So, what is an iPhone user to do?

Well, that guy from iPhone Central mentioned way to behave to the iPhone, while the side bedtime reading, so I thought I would offer iPhone users my own solution to the iPhone in bed. Safari rotates the first 90 degrees, but not the second, leaving Safari’s window in the perfect position for reading in bed. A simple tip but its working to save my time
