I have a nokia 6300 unlocked to vodafone and wen i goto the settings and then onto phone settings then onto operator selection and if u click manual it comes up with 4 uk networks 1)Vodafone UK (My network). 2)02 UK. 3)orange UK. 4)T-mobile UK, wat do they do plz can u give an answer??

It means that when allowed you can use that setting to select the network operator you want to use. Normally that setting is kept on Automatic and the selection of the operator is done automatically by the SIM card, using either SIMs issuing network or the preferred roaming partner.



The only case when it makes sense to use that setting is when you are travelling abroad and want to chose your roaming network (based on coverage and roaming charges).



While in UK an attempt to join e.g. the Orange network while using a Vodafone SIM would be rejected by Orange as they do not have an agreement with Vodafone for national roaming. Obviously.

dont worry about it.. u dont need to touch the settings on there..



its only there just in case ur phone doesnt automatically come up with a operator on start-up (on your front screen)



just put operator selection on Automatic!
