What cell phone company is the cell phone with? Usually companies like AT&T and T-Mobile lock their cell phones so they could only be used with their SIM cards. What you could do is go to a cell phone store where you live and see if they can unlock the phone for you so it could accept the SIM card. If not, try googling "Nokia 2610 unlock code." You can try the website http://www.gsmliberty.net/shop/nokia_unlock.php and see if it works. Hope this helped!

I used to work for a cell phone company and the best and SAFEST way is to obtain an unlock code from your carrier. There are simple ways to unlock Nokias but JUST IN CASE, because you only get a few tries to unlock it, contact your carrier.

Call your previous carrier in the old country and ask for the sim unlock code. Too many wrong tries and you'll lock the phone permanently.
