I am so clueless when it comes to phones, honestly. I don't know how they work these days. I bought a Galaxy S9 a few months ago and only put $30 on it. Somehow, I'm still able to make calls....

Anyway, if I reply to messages/texts in the 'messages' box, does that cost me anything? Or is it more like Messenger these days?

your phone does not constitute whether you must pay it is your service provider so i would look into that instead. but from what i can infer your probably on a plan which may cost you if you didnt read the fine print and offer correctly or indubitably

Texts messages are charged for under your carrier plan, whether you are post paid or pre paid.

Messenger is IM (instant messages) which would be charged for under your data plan (if you aren't in a wifi area at the time).

Lot of people mix up/combine the 2. Same applies for any phone carrier/manufacturer.

The brand of the phone doesn't matter. What matters is the plan you have with your carrier. You didn't really give us any useful information, so we can't really say.

However, as far as I'm aware, almost all major carriers and their plans offer unlimited calling and texting within the US (assuming you're in the US). They charge you the most for the data plan.

Usually with phone plans it dosent cost nothing for text messaging. Now if texting someone out of country then it might cost you

It's not a matter of what company manufactured your phone, Skippy. It's about the service that you've paid for and I have no idea what that might be since I'm not psychic and you have not stated.

It depends on the plan you pay for. You need to ask your provider what your plan includes.
