Question:
How do I free internal phone storage?

I have a LG -VS700 smartphone. It's about 1.5yrs old and has never been a great phone (got it for free with a Verizon contract) and recently it has been giving a notification that the internal storage space is low and files should be deleted.
I've deleted all texts, transferred all pics & vidoes to my computer, uninstalled all but two apps, and cleared cache from every area I could find to delete it from. I've powered down after making these changes and also took the battery out for an extended period of time. None of this seemed to make a difference. I believe the phone has 200MB of memory, and there's currently 19MB available.
I've looked in every setting and area of the phone but can't seem to find anything that will free up space. Any suggestions? Or is it time to upgrade to a better phone?

Clearing the cache in menu>applications>manage applications. If that doesn't work I would take it to a corporate Verizon Wireless store (call and ask when their typical slow hrs are, the wait can be insane sometimes). It could be a simple a buying an SD memory card. If it doesn't fix the problem, return it on the spot... you have 14 days to return an accessory as long as there's no damage.

The LG VS700 isn't the best phone, but it shouldn't break malfunction like that if the phone is in good shape. Their should be a fix.

Also, sometimes paying for the upgrade rather than going for the "free-be's" pays off in the long run. Do that as your last option though.

Android phone I presume? Try exploring the filespace with a good file manager like File Expert. There may be something lurking in there that you overlooked. Once you have exhausted all user level possibilities, root the phone and explore the root (system level) files. Check especially the /Data folder. You have to do this while rooted. One of the big memory leaks in Android is system level log files that don't get erased and end up choking up memory. If you want, you can also try doing a factory rest, which will erase everything. Including your apps and data. So be sure to save anything important before you try this.
