I have at&t and need to replace my cell phone. My sister has tmobil and wants to give me her old phone, and got the unlock code for it. She will be giving me the phone in a couple weeks. Will this phone work for me? Can I use it for text, instant messaging, and multi-media messaging? (I know tmobil doesn't use medianet like at&t does)

Yes, but at&t is quad band while tmobile is only tri band, meaning that that extra band for at&t gives more reception, depending on your area. Other than that it should work fine.
