I just bought a new bluetooth headset to my cell phone for just making calls nothing else
but i noticed that i must keep my bluetooth on if i want receive calls using the headset
does the bluetooth headset drain my cell phone battery quicker than the usual
and if so, is there another way to save my battery without disabling the headset ?

no, just set the cell phone to non discoverable after pairing it to the headset.

Yes it does. It uses the phone's internal processing power to locate the distance between phone & headset. Having done so, determines the frequency to create optimum connectivity. The over processing eventually utilizes more battery power.



Your phone may have other applications running in the background as well. Try shutting them off

For the mp3 part some telephones have music best (or airplane mode) which may support your battery. Which is not going to activate the mobile get together i do know the a few of Sony Ericsson's do and i feel the nokia will also

Bluetooth does drain your battery faster. To save battery, turn off Wi-Fi unless you are using it. Stop unneeded apps, turn off data, or drop to a 2G data service
