Icon issues with Telus LG keybo phone?

I am with telus, and use an LG keybo phone. The new mail icon (small envelope at the top of the screen) is there, but I have no mail. I cant seem to get rid of the icon! I tried turning off and on the phone, and sending myself a message then deleting it, but neither worked. Any ideas?

The envelope icon could mean you have a new text message, email, or voicemail. If you don't have any of these items try deleting your email account from the phone and adding it back again. As a last resort you can restore the phone back to factory settings, which will fix your issue but also erase everything on your phone back to the way you got it out of the box. This will erase all contacts, pictures, text messages, and settings on your phone.
