i'm sending text messages to someone and its telling me it's sent but there has been no reply for a while, is it possible for your phone to say the message is sent when the person you are texting has his phone off or is not even using the same simcard anymore?

A text message can be sent to a turned off phone. But it depends on the settings that the person has, for message validity. This would affect how long the message stays unread. You can use a delivery report on your phone. Just have a look at the message settings for SMS or MMS.

How To Text When Your Phone Is Off

You can send a message to any phone at any time. But this does not mean that the owner will receive it.

If the phone is turned off then the message is held by the phone network (they have a time limit on that) and only delivered to the phone when it is eventually turned on and logged in to the network.

Your network probably will not notify you that this has happened. You'll have to wait until the other person replies to you.

HEY NAP..

Basically , as most everyone else has meant, you're seeing "MESSAGE SENT" because it has been received by the phone companies server. But it is only held in the server for a certain amount of time.

As long as the holding time does not expire at the server side ,and /or the account is not terminated for that device, then as soon as THAT device connects to the server , the message will continue on its way and to be sent to it.

As you send text message anyone, they will replay you soon, But sometimes the cell phone was switch off, so that they don't receive your message. In this case you should call them ,then will get know The phone is switch off or unreachable network.Mostly when I have imported work then I directly call them.

Yes you can send messages when the phone is turned off. They will get the message if the phone is off or on, it wont make a sound when its off on there phone but they got it and when they turn it on it was make a sound and let the person know they got a message from you.

Yes Sure. It's pretty much like receiving an SMS after a switched-off mobile is turned on. But for a certain time period, if that period which either the sender's handset or the sms center sets is expired, then the SMS is discarded and the phone can't receive it.

Yes the message will send to a turned off phone if you have signal and when the phone is next turned on the message will appear on the persons phone

yes. The text - or texts do send when the other person's phone is off.

But if they're not using the same sim-card then no. But you could possibly go to the phone store that it came from (like Verizon) and be a little bit stalkerish and ask where the person's phone is... Don't know if they would give it out since its another person's phone, yah know?

You can send a text to a phone that is off, or even disconnected - and depending on the carriers involved, receive a false "received" message back. Normally this will not happen, but it can - and that is the key.

yes the message is sent to and stored on a server referred to as a short message service center (SMS-SC) and forwarded to the mobile when it connects to the network. If the sim is not in use the message will be deleted from the SMS-SC after a set period. The reason it is showing as sent is because it has left your SMS-SC. In the same way an email shows as sent when it leaves your providers mail servers. The sms will show as received when it has been forwarded to the mobile phone. sms messages require the sim to be in a phone as this identifies and authenticates the mobile phone and connects it to the SMS-SC.

You can send a text to a phone that's off, or maybe disconnected - and betting on the carriers concerned, receive a false "received" message back. ordinarily this may not happen, however it will - which is that the key.

Yes but the person wont actually receive the message until the phone is turned back on and the message is delivered.

Yes Beyond any doubt. It's practically like accepting a SMS after an exchanged off versatile is turned on. Be that as it may for a certain time period, if that period which either the sender's handset or the sms focus sets is terminated, then the SMS is disposed of and the telephone can't get it.

whenever the phone is off or out of range; i don't think it is possible to receive a message/sms. whenever the phone is active; they will receive the message for sure. send a message in outlook with read receipt. if not, in whatsapp or in IMO. If you send a message in Whatsapp or IMO; whenever someone receives the message; you will see (2) two tick marks. whenever they read the message; two tick's marks color will change to blue.

the text message will be sent, and when that other person turns on his or her phone, the text message will be the first thing that is reviled on the screen.
