You know, the ones people get so that when their cell service gets shut off, they still have that app to text and still be able to communicate until the bill gets paid. Prefferrably one that does not require 3g or internet because once the service is shut off, they take internet connection too. Please help me out here. It'd be greatly appreciated! :) ~thanks in advance !

Google Voice is a nice one, because you can call and text from the same number on a computer or Android Device. You could also get a number that is localized by your location (They will ask for your local area code and then give you a number that appears locally friendly), Call quality and text speed is alright. However, another good one (And my personally preferred one) is TextPlus, which is a text and call app. Unlike Google voice, TextPlus is UNLIMITED texting (No limit what so ever), you could send photos, and the send and receive speed is a lot quicker than Google Voice (Almost the same speed as regular SMS texting). You can also make calls, but you have to earn minutes by doing certain activities or paying for it. I think you get like 10 free minutes when you download the app. The only drawback to this app is you can't really pick your number... they just give you one, and another drawback is that you can't access your message on another device; the phone number and texts you get on a device is dedicated only to that device, so if you get a new phone you get a new number and your inbox will be empty. You could also pay for TextPlus Gold like 2.99 yearly to make your own number, ad free, and international calls. Other than those drawbacks.... I would say TextPlus is alot better. I really liked the app. Here is the link to both on Google Play:

I think Google Voice does what you want - but I don't think you get 100% unlimited calling, although I think the texting is free. Skype is a similar app but it definitely makes you pay for calls unless the person on the other end also has Skype.

If you wanna text on an mobile without internet you need way2sms and if you want free call app you and the one whom you want to call need internet. You can also have Leo Privacy Guard in order to hide your images and videos and also it can lock your favorite applications.

Really, the best application you could possibly find with the description that you gave me would be the Google Voice application, there is many and I think that the Google Voice application is developed very well, give it a try. You have nothing to lose.
