I will pay for usage until now but no more than that. I am on an 18 month contract, which started in November and already my phone is packing up, my charger is no longer working and neither have been dropped, wet, heated etc so there is no reason for it.

I am with 3. So far I am not impressed considering they are meant to be the mobile internet giant as half of the time I can't get on to the internet because of the low signal!

I want to just give up the phone and take out a new contract with a different phone. What will happen? Could I just report it lost and no longer use it as obviously the phone would be blocked anyway?

say goodby to ever getting another contract, store credit, a loan, a mortguage, a catalogue, a credit card, a job that requires a credit check. because if you dotn pay, that is what will happen, you will be black listed.

if you report it as lost, you have to call the police, have a police number, and then they will send you a replacement.

why dont you just call them up, and tell them your handset is faulty, they will repair ot or send you a new one, since your on a contract it's there responsibility to repair/replace it.

Hello, (ANS) Mobile phone theft is a very very common crime, so I would imagine that the more evidence or real proof you can provide the phone company. That this bill wasn't genuinely run up by yourself the stronger your case will be should the phone (telco) company decide to take you to court or perhaps pass the debit to a debit recovery company. **If you informed the phone company immediately that your phone had been stolen. Or if you informed them as soon as you discovered the theft. Then this would definitely be points in your favour, however if you failed to do this then your case begins to look much weaker. **Did you contact the police immediately when the phone was stolen? Again this is important. **If the phone was reported stolen to both the police & phone company you have a stronger position than if you didn't. **Phones that are reported stolen generally have a stop put on them ASAP, or are blacklisted and have the connected blocked. So the sim-card or phone number cannot be used further, hence preventing further debit or abusive use. **With good eveidence or proof the debit MAY? be written off but if you dont have any proof then the debit could be passed to a debit recovery company. **This has the potential to affect your credit rating & credit history too. Hi, my name is Paul, and I will try to answer your question. When a service carrier goes unpaid for services they will hold the account for a month or two trying to collect the bill. They then will report the debt to a collection agency for collection efforts. Additionally, this will effect your credit rating with the three major credit bureaus ( when you try to get credit or open a account this will effect you an extreme amount ). Ending a contract before it's termination date will create what is know as a "early disconnect fee" which could be as much as $250.00 . You can try calling the service provider and explain that your signal is so low that you can not use their services, and that you want to disconnect. They may give you a break, but they probably will not. If you do choose to change carriers, please do the following:

1. Do not disconnect until you get service with another company;

2. Ask to keep your number with your new company.

3. When you get your phone with the new company then disconnect your service with the old carrier.

4. Send a dispute letter to the old carrier concerning any charges they may add to your bill, and stay on top of your dispute - and do not quit until you win!

Your best option is to contact 3 and explain the situation. I had the same problem with 3 network, I could get no signal from home. Explain to them you are not going to pay for a service which you are not getting so you wish to cancel your contract. Push for it don't give up. Ask to talk to a senior member of management and they should help.
