Is the Iphone 3GS a good phone?

This year for christmas, my son wants an iphone. I looked online today, and I have a valued customer discount on iphones on my account, because we arent due for upgrades until march. For the iphone 3GS it will cost me $299. For the iphone 4 it would run me about $450. Seeing as all my son will be doing on it is texting, talking, listening to music, downloading apps and going on facebook, would the iphone 3GS be okay to get him, or does he ABSOLUTLEY need the iphone 4?

The best advice I can give is the same as if someone asks I want a 2011 corvette but I can get a 2010 cheaper.Same principal,the 3gs is last years super phone and it will do everything you described and more,the iphone 4 has a bit more power a sharper display and a sleeker design.Otherwise the 3gs is a great phone ive been using for a while with no complaints its an excellent music player has a nice camera and great call quality,save the extra cash and enjoy,especialy in these rough times you dont need what you wont notice unless your looking for it.Good luck and god bless.

iPhone 3Gs is a really good phone....plus it has got almost the same features that of iPhone 4....but what the iPhone 4 really has which the 3Gs doesn't are:



1. iPhone 4 has two cameras at the front and at the back as well as LED flash. iPhone 3Gs has only one camera at the back without the flash.



2. With iPhone 4, you can video call another iPhone 4, popularly known as Facetime. You can't do that with iPhone 3Gs.



3. iPhone 4 has the best touchscreen resolution in the world and is way better than the resolution of the iPhone 3Gs.



4. Iphone 3Gs has better signal reception than iPhone 4.



Other than that, everything else is same. So if his main purpose is just texting, talking and everything else you mentioned, i think iPhone 3Gs is a good fit.
